Are dyslexia and autism similar?

While dyslexia and autism share some overlapping features, such as challenges in school and processing information differently, they are not the same. Dyslexia affects reading, spelling, and phonological processing, whereas autism affects social interaction, communication, and flexible thinking.

Some children with both conditions may find it harder to learn in traditional classroom settings, requiring tailored supports. The similarity lies in both being lifelong, brain-based differences that benefit from early intervention and structured support.
