Are dyslexia and OCD linked?

Dyslexia and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) are distinct conditions, but they can sometimes co-exist. Dyslexia is a learning difficulty with reading and language, while OCD is an anxiety disorder involving intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviours.

There is no direct causal link between the two, but children with dyslexia may develop anxiety or compulsive habits due to school struggles, which can resemble OCD symptoms.

In Australia, psychologists assess each condition separately to ensure children receive appropriate care.
