At what age can childhood apraxia of speech be diagnosed?

CAS can generally be diagnosed around 3 years of age or older, once a child has developed enough speech for clear assessment. Before this stage, speech pathologists may provide therapy targeting communication difficulties without formally labelling the child with CAS.

Some children are diagnosed later if symptoms become more noticeable in preschool or early school years.
