Can autism go away?
Autism is a lifelong condition and does not “go away.” However, with early intervention and personalised support, many children can make significant progress in communication, behaviour, and independence. Over time, the visible signs of autism may become less noticeable, especially when children are supported in building social-emotional skills. That said, autism remains part of a person’s identity and how they experience the world. The goal of support is to help each individual thrive—not to change who they are.
