Can developmental language disorder be cured?

Developmental Language Disorder is a lifelong condition—it cannot be “cured.” However, with the right supports, children and adults with DLD can improve their communication skills, succeed in school, and build meaningful relationships.

Key facts:
  • Symptoms can be reduced with therapy, but some challenges may remain.
  • Children often learn strategies to cope with communication difficulties.
  •  Long-term support may be needed during transitions, such as starting school or work.
While DLD is not curable, it is highly manageable with early and ongoing intervention.
