Can dyslexia come later in life?
Dyslexia is a lifelong condition that begins in childhood, so it does not suddenly appear later in life. However, some people are not diagnosed until their teenage years or adulthood because their difficulties were overlooked or compensated for in school. Adults may only discover they have dyslexia when reading, writing, or studying becomes more demanding. In these cases, assessments can still be carried out, and support strategies can make a meaningful difference, even later in life. This is why dyslexia is sometimes referred to as “hidden” until the right challenges bring it to light.
