Can dyslexia get worse with age?

Dyslexia itself does not worsen with age, but its effects can become more noticeable as academic and workplace demands increase. For example, a child who struggles with reading may face even greater challenges in high school if they haven’t received the right support earlier. Adults with untreated dyslexia may also find reading-intensive jobs more difficult. With therapy, accommodations, and strategies, however, people with dyslexia can thrive at any age. The focus should be on consistent management rather than expecting the condition to disappear.
