Can sensory processing disorder develop later in life?

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is most often identified in childhood, but sensory challenges can also become apparent later in life. In adults, SPD may show as difficulty coping with noise, crowds, textures, or multitasking environments. Sometimes, symptoms that were mild in childhood become more noticeable with increased responsibilities at school, work, or home. While SPD doesn’t usually “develop” suddenly in adulthood, it can be recognised later and still benefit from therapy.
