How often are behaviour support plans reviewed?

Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) must be reviewed regularly to remain effective and compliant with NDIS guidelines—especially if the plan includes restrictive practices. Typically, a review happens every 3 to 6 months depending on the child's progress, risk level, and goals.

During a review, the therapist will reassess behaviours, update strategies, and adjust goals as needed. Parents, educators, and other professionals involved in the child’s care may contribute insights during this process. Reviewing ensures the BSP remains practical, relevant, and aligned with the child’s current abilities and environment.

NDIS participants with complex needs may require more frequent reviews to ensure the plan continues to reduce risk and promote skill-building.
