NDIS plan management can be broken down into five practical stages, each aligned with the typical journey of a participant or their family:
-
Preparation and Assessment – This begins before your planning meeting with the NDIA or LAC. It involves reflecting on your or your child’s current needs, goals, and challenges. You may gather reports from therapists or support workers.
-
Plan Creation – During your meeting with the planner or LAC, a formal NDIS plan is created. You’ll choose how the plan is managed (e.g., plan-managed) and which supports should be included.
-
Implementation – Once the plan is approved, your plan manager helps set up the structure: connecting with providers, managing service agreements, and ensuring everything is ready to begin.
-
Monitoring and Support – Throughout the plan period (usually 12 months), your plan manager monitors fund usage, ensures providers are paid correctly and on time, and sends regular reports so you stay informed.
-
Review and Adjustment – Near the end of the plan, your plan manager helps prepare for the NDIS review. They gather spending reports, discuss what worked and what didn’t, and help prepare evidence to request changes.
This end-to-end support ensures your NDIS funding is not just managed—it’s actively supporting your child’s development.
