What is an example of a behavioural approach?

A common behavioural approach is a "token economy system" used in home or school settings. In this approach, a child earns tokens or points for completing tasks or showing desired behaviours, such as using polite words or following instructions. These tokens can later be exchanged for a reward. This helps motivate the child to engage in positive behaviours consistently. Another example is modifying the environment to reduce triggers—such as offering choices during transitions—to prevent meltdowns or resistance.
