What is an example of NDIS plan management in action?

Let’s say your child’s NDIS plan includes $10,000 in Capacity Building funding for therapy and $6,000 in Core support for daily activities. You’ve chosen to be plan-managed. Here’s how your plan manager helps:

  • You hire a local speech therapist who is not NDIS-registered. Because you’re plan-managed, your plan manager can still pay them.

  • After a session, the therapist sends their invoice to the plan manager, who checks it against your plan and submits a claim to the NDIA portal.

  • The plan manager pays the therapist within 5–7 days and updates your budget.

  • At the end of the month, you receive a report showing all your spending and remaining balances.

  • If you're underspending, your plan manager flags this and helps you reallocate funds before they expire.

This example shows how plan management gives you flexibility, transparency, and financial oversight—without extra admin stress.
