When should I worry about my child’s speech?

It’s a good idea to seek advice from a speech pathologist if your child:

  • Isn’t saying words by 18 months

  • Has limited vocabulary or doesn’t combine words by age 2–3

  • Is difficult to understand compared to peers

  • Doesn’t follow simple instructions

  • Avoids speaking or communicating with others

  • Stutters frequently or struggles to get words out

  • Has feeding or swallowing issues

Early intervention makes a big difference. Under the NDIS, children showing signs of communication delay may be eligible for funded speech therapy, even without a formal diagnosis. If you’re noticing any of these signs, don’t wait—book your consultation now.
