How autism is caused?

Autism is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors that affect early brain development. While the exact cause is still not fully understood, research shows that genes play a significant role. Environmental influences—such as complications during pregnancy or birth—may also contribute, but there is no single trigger. Importantly, autism is not caused by parenting, vaccines, or lifestyle factors. It is a naturally occurring variation in neurodevelopment.
