How is childhood apraxia of speech diagnosed?

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is diagnosed through a comprehensive speech pathology assessment. A speech pathologist examines a child’s ability to produce sounds, words, and phrases, focusing on consistency, accuracy, and sequencing of speech. Unlike other speech disorders, CAS is marked by inconsistent errors, groping movements, and difficulty with longer or more complex words.

Diagnosis usually requires multiple sessions to observe speech patterns over time. Other conditions such as phonological disorders or language delays must be ruled out.

If you suspect CAS, book a consultation with us for a professional assessment.
