How rare is dyspraxia?

Dyspraxia is not rare—it affects an estimated 5–6% of school-aged children in Australia, with about 2% experiencing more severe challenges. It is more common in boys than girls, though it often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Because symptoms overlap with ADHD, autism, and learning difficulties, some children are overlooked. Awareness is growing, and more schools and health professionals now recognise dyspraxia as a significant developmental condition. The NDIS provides pathways for children with diagnosed dyspraxia to access support services.
