Is dysgraphia genetic or hereditary?
Research indicates that dysgraphia can run in families, suggesting a genetic or hereditary component. Children with a parent or sibling who has a learning disorder such as dyslexia, ADHD, or dysgraphia may have a higher risk of experiencing similar challenges. However, genetics is not the only factor—environmental influences, early brain development, and co-occurring conditions also play a role. This combination explains why dysgraphia may appear in some families more than others.
