Is dyspraxia linked to autism?
Dyspraxia is not the same as autism, but the two conditions can co-occur. Research shows a higher rate of dyspraxia among children on the autism spectrum. Both conditions affect development, but in different ways—dyspraxia impacts motor planning and coordination, while autism affects communication, social interaction, and behaviour.
Some children may have both, meaning they need tailored support that addresses motor challenges as well as social and sensory needs. A multidisciplinary approach with occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and behaviour support can make a big difference.
If your child shows signs of both autism and dyspraxia, contact us today to discuss NDIS support.
