What are the clinical features of cerebral palsy?
The clinical features of cerebral palsy vary depending on the type and severity but generally include:
- Muscle tone abnormalities – either stiffness (spasticity) or low tone (hypotonia).
- Motor difficulties – problems with movement, balance, coordination, or posture.
- Delayed developmental milestones – such as rolling, sitting, crawling, or walking later than peers.
- Involuntary movements – tremors, jerks, or uncontrolled motions in some CP types.
- Associated conditions – seizures, intellectual disability, vision or hearing problems, and feeding/swallowing challenges.
