What are the symptoms of dyslexia?

Dyslexia symptoms are closely related to its signs but can vary depending on age. In younger children, symptoms include late speech development, difficulty learning rhymes, and problems recognising letters. In school-aged children, symptoms are more evident in slow reading, poor spelling, and challenges with written expression.

Teenagers and adults may show symptoms such as difficulty summarising information, problems learning foreign languages, or avoiding reading tasks altogether. Importantly, symptoms can differ in severity but are not a reflection of intelligence.
