What is a global developmental delay (GDD)?
Global Developmental Delay (GDD) is a diagnosis used when a child shows significant delays in two or more areas of development, such as motor skills, speech and language, cognitive skills, and social-emotional development. It is typically identified in children under the age of 5. GDD is not a specific condition but rather a general term used to describe noticeable delays that impact a child's ability to meet age-appropriate developmental milestones. In Australia, GDD may qualify a child for early intervention under the NDIS, depending on severity.
