What is dysgraphia in the DSM-5?

In the DSM-5, dysgraphia is not listed as a separate diagnosis but is included under Specific Learning Disorder with impairment in written expression. This classification recognises persistent difficulties with spelling, grammar, punctuation, and the ability to organise written ideas. Diagnosis requires that these difficulties are significantly below what is expected for age and not explained by other conditions or lack of opportunity.
