What is dyslexia under the NDIS?

Dyslexia on its own is not typically covered by the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme), as the scheme focuses on permanent and significant disabilities that affect daily living. However, if a child has dyslexia alongside another condition—such as ADHD, autism, or intellectual disability—they may qualify for NDIS support.

In these cases, the NDIS can fund therapies, assistive technology, and supports that help the child with communication, learning, and independence. For families, this means it’s important to get a thorough assessment to determine whether dyslexia is part of a broader developmental profile.
