What is oppositional defiant disorder in teens?
In teenagers, ODD can present as frequent arguments with parents, defiance of school rules, refusal to take responsibility, and escalating conflicts with peers or authority figures. Unlike younger children, teens with ODD may also show resentment, deliberate rule-breaking, and risk-taking behaviours.
Left untreated, ODD in adolescence can progress into more serious issues such as conduct disorder or ongoing difficulties with school and relationships. Therapy, parent coaching, and structured support are essential at this stage.
