Why autism is increasing?

Autism diagnoses have increased in recent decades due to better awareness, broader diagnostic criteria, and improved access to assessment services. More people—including girls, adults, and individuals with milder traits—are now recognised as autistic.

This rise does not mean autism itself is more common than before, but rather that we are better at identifying it. Social acceptance and professional training have also helped reduce stigma, leading more families to seek formal assessments.
