Why does dyspraxia occur?

Dyspraxia occurs because the brain has difficulty planning and sequencing movements. This happens when there are differences in how messages travel between the brain and body. While the exact reason is not always clear, researchers believe a mix of genetic and developmental factors contribute.

Children born prematurely, with low birth weight, or with a family history of learning or motor challenges are more at risk. These neurological differences make it harder for the child to organise physical actions, but intelligence remains unaffected.
