Why would a child need speech therapy?

A child may need speech therapy if they are not meeting expected milestones in communication, language use, pronunciation, social interaction, or feeding. Common reasons include:

  • Delayed speech or unclear articulation

  • Difficulty following instructions

  • Limited vocabulary or sentence structure

  • Trouble making friends due to communication barriers

  • Stuttering or voice issues

  • Feeding or swallowing difficulties

Speech therapy is particularly important in the early years when brain development is most active. Under the NDIS, children with developmental delay, autism, or other disabilities can access early intervention speech therapy to build foundational communication skills. Early support leads to better long-term outcomes in school and everyday life. If you're unsure whether your child needs therapy, book your consultation now.
