Will the NDIS pay for tutoring?

The NDIS does not fund standard educational tutoring, as education is the responsibility of schools and education departments. However, the NDIS may fund capacity building supports that help a child with disability to access and participate in learning, such as:
  • Speech therapy for communication
  • Occupational therapy for classroom participation
  • Assistive technology for learning
Tutoring is only funded if it is directly related to a functional disability need, not for general academic improvement.
